Making‌ ‌Career‌ ‌as‌ ‌a‌ ‌Dance Instructor

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer.”- Harriet Tubman

Great or not, but my life surprisingly turned out to be my dream that came true. Ever since I could remember, I had dreamt of owning a dance studio and becoming a dance instructor. But like many, my passion was also smouldered under the constant pressure to focus on shaping a career in a so-called “more stable and reputed” field.

Love‌ ‌for‌ ‌dancing‌ ‌with‌ ‌a‌ ‌dream.

I was 10 years old when I first started taking professional training in Kathak (Classical dance form in UP). Time flew and dance became a salient part of my personality. My parents were also very supportive of my hobby. However, reality hit hard when I had to leave my Kathak classes for higher studies. I went to Dehradun for completing my higher education (Masters in Microbiology). I thoroughly enjoyed my studies, topped the semesters and earned scholarships. But I craved every moment to continue with my study of Kathak. I had also decided to join a dance school for the same but my pocket money was way too less to afford the classes and examinations. That was the time when I decided that I would start with my Kathak lessons as soon as I start earning. And that is exactly what I did.

After college, I joined GlaxoSmithKline as a Business Executive but my hunger for the art never diminished. After working for about two years there, I realised that dance had always been, was and would always remain my first priority. I immediately applied for the post of an instructor in a private academy in New Delhi for the sake of gaining experience. I had to face criticism from family and friends about my decision of quitting a reputed company and taking up my passion as my career. But the criticism eventually helped me by motivating me further during my arduous years of struggle. They pushed me in a trance to prove myself. The turning point of my life appeared when I started with my entrepreneurial journey with “Dantza” in March 2016. It took me quite long; around 1.5 to 2 years of hard work, determination and patience to establish Dantza as a brand in Dwarka, Delhi. Meanwhile, I also got certified as a Zumba trainer and started with Zumba classes in Dantza too.
